Billy Tong’s ‘Scotch Bonnet’ biltong measures 300,000 on the Scoville scale. (As a comparison, our Peri-Peri is a mere 100,000 on average!). Beautifully blended with our 28-day hung beef, Scotch Bonnet is hot enough to come with a warning… don’t feed it to kids or pets (or your worst enemy 😜).  If you’re a biltong or chilli lover looking for something a bit more ‘heavyweight’ than peri-peri, this should be your choice.

About Our Scotch Bonnet Flavoured Biltong

The heat intensity of chilli peppers is measured universally in Scoville Heat Units (SHU), and our Scotch Bonnet biltong averages 300,000 SHU’s. (If you like insanely hot biltong, then we’d direct you to our Reaper biltong which averages 1.6 million SHU’s). For further perspective, our Peri-Peri biltong manages a mere 100,000 SHU’s, and our Cheeky Chilli biltong a positive cool 35,000 SHU’s.

Also known as Caribbean Red Peppers, we use a variety that is found in both the Caribbean and West Africa.

These chilli peppers are specially imported, adding additional costs to our Scotch Bonnet production, which is indicative of the price we have to charge (but it’s oh so worth it!) We currently sell Scotch Bonnet in 5 x 100g bags only.
